Cancer Support Scotland is governed by a Board of Trustees which meets at least six times per year. The members are as follows:
David Semple, Chair of Trustees
David was a commercial solicitor, a founder partner and Chairman of Semple Fraser and a past President of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce.
Michael Buchanan, Vice Chair of Trustees
Michael is a former Councillor with Glasgow City Council and prior to retirement was employed for 18 years as a Local Government Officer in a variety of management posts. Michael now plays an active role for the Independent Custody Visitor for Strathclyde Police Authority and is an active member of the Local Housing Organisation.
Karen McGugan
Karen is a registered nurse and has worked in a variety of clinical areas within the NHS. Karen’s role has been that of a senior nurse developing services and staff through strong leadership and vision.
Judi Matheson
Judi has a wealth of experience regarding sales, marketing, communications and general management. Judi transferred to the voluntary sector and became Fundraising Manager at St Columba’s Hospice. Judi is currently involved as a volunteer with ParentLine Scotland and a Board member of ASH Scotland and HomeLink Befriending.
Stewart Ferguson
Stewart is a retired Chartered Accountant and currently holds chairmanship of the TS Anderson Limited Group of companies.
Stuart Macdonald
Stuart is the Company Director of Seric Systems. Seric Systems specialises in solutions for IT infrastructure, social business, collaberation and predictive analytics. Stuart founded the business 16 years ago with the support from the Prince's Trust and now has a turnover of almost £8m. Stuart won the Prince's Youth Business International Global Ambassador of the year in 2010.
Dr Paul Thomson
Paul holds the position of Rector of Jordanhill School, this combines the role of a head teacher with those of Chief Executive of the organisation and many functions of a Director of Education. In 2006 Paul won the Becta ICT in Practice Award for Leadership.
Craig Mackie
Craig is the owner and director of The Shine Agency based in Glasgow. Craig has built the business up over a number of years and it specialises in creating bespoke design and marketing materials.
David Millar
David holds the position of Associate and Head of Conservation with Austin-Smith:Lord LLP. David became aware of Cancer Support Scotland through his involvement with Glasgow Building Presevation Trust working on the design of the Calman Cancer Support Centre initially from 2006. David had his own practice Brooke Millar Partnership for 7 years, specialising in heritage and conservation projects throughout the UK.
Kathleen Benham CA
Kathleen is the partner and founder of Benham Conway & Co. and is a consultant to the Board with a special remit of finance and governance.
