What is Deep Tissue Massage?
Deep tissue massage works to relieve severe tension in the muscle and focuses on deeper layers of muscles. It is not unlike the classic massage but uses slower movement and deeper pressure, really concentrating on areas of pain and tension.
What happens during Deep Tissue Massage?
Similar to a massage, clients will be on the massage couch. Towels will be used to cover the client and only the area of the body being worked on will be exposed at any one time. The therapist will carry out several deep tissue techniques using hands, knuckles and elbows, checking with the client at all times that the pressure is ok.
What are the benefits of Deep Tissue Massage?
A deep tissue massage is thought to help reduce chronic pain, improve sleep and reduce stress and anxiety. It is good for muscular aches and pains, improves mobility by freeing up restricted joints, encourages the flow of the lymphatic system clearing toxins from the body and encouraging the flow of blood taking oxygen and nutrients to aid repair.
