Hot Stone Therapy

What is Hot Stone Therapy?

Hot stone therapy is similar to a massage; however instead of the use of hands therapists use volcanic rocks such as basalt. They are believed to encourage relaxation in addition to reducing negative energy within the client’s body and mind.

What Happens During Hot Stone Therapy?

During treatment the stones are placed on the chakra points of the body- along the spine- which is the body’s energy centre. Our therapists use the stone, not their hands to massage. The stones are heated using hot water, but the treatment can also involves the use of cold stones such as marble.

What are the benefits of hot stone therapy?

Using stones compared to fingers is considered to be gentler compared to, for example a deep tissue massage. That said therapists can reach around ten times deeper using stones during the massage rather than using fingers. The mixture of hot and cold stones is thought to encourage the body to relax and heel. It also encourages muscle relaxation, eases stress and energy levels, releases toxins and improves blood circulation. It can also help aid muscular aches and pains.
