Massage

What is Massage?

Massage is an age-old therapy used since 4000 BC and is the oldest form of physical medicine recorded. It involves using the hands to stretch and apply pressure to the body’s soft tissues, muscles, tendons and ligaments. This can relieve stiffness in muscles and joints, in addition to helping you feel relaxed.

What happens during Massage?

A consultation will take place to ensure that there are no contraindications to your treatment. Massage may be given when lying on a massage couch or when seated on a chair. Pillows or towels may be used to support you to aid complete relaxation. Oil or lotion may be used during the therapy. The level of touch can be light and gentle or deep and strong.

What are the benefits of Massage?

Massage is offered for pain relief, muscular and joint problems such as injury or arthritis, stress reduction, relaxation, general health and well-being. It is thought that Massage therapy can reduce symptoms like stress and anxiety, depression and fatigue and muscular aches and pains. It also helps to break down congested areas and increases the flow of oxygen and nutrients to help aid the healing process.
